NotifyEM is an iPhone app to display informative emergency-related maps and related voice and visual communications. The maps need to be downloaded only once. After that, they are available on your iPhone offline. The app makes it easy to communicate things that otherwise would be very difficult to explain in a text or voice message. For example, users can instantly understand an irregularly shaped evacuation zone when they see it on a map and can easily decide whether they are in the affected zone or not.

Features:
- Users can subscribe to a channel created by an organization, such as an Office of Emergency Management or a University Police Department. Should the organization issue an emergency alert or warning, the app will sound a customized voice message, such as “This is an important alert from University Police. Please do not ignore!”

- Users can then easily navigate to the incident, which can be viewed on a map. Users can switch to the “details view” that may display instructions, voice messages, photos, and infographics related to the alert and sent by the issuing organization.

- The user’s distance from the incident is prominently displayed on the screen in feet and/or miles. Location services need to be active to use this feature.

- In Settings, it is possible to subscribe to or unsubscribe from Notification Channels. Those serve the purpose of transmitting notifications only to those who subscribe to a channel. For example, if a Police Department creates its channel, subscribers can opt in to receive communication issued through that channel.
